Marketing 101: Talk about the Benefits

Explaining and showing off the features of your products or services is important, the more intelligent marketer knows that explaining the benefits for the customer is really what it’s all about. After all, if people don’t understand how they benefit from your services or product, then why would they give you their money?

Lucky for you, this is not complicated. Here’s what you need do to figure this out:

List out all your services or products
For each line item, list out everything that service does. These are its features.
Next, list out what the result of each feature is. This is the benefit for the client.

For example, say you are an accountant. One feature of your service is that you have a website where clients can log in and access their tax documents anytime, 24/7. The benefit that the client receives in this case is time and convenience.
